18 June 2025: 15th Workers' Voice Breakfast

On the road to sustainable Corporate Governance

The Hans-Böckler-Foundation warmly invites participants to the next Workers’ Voice Breakfast on Wednesday, 18 June 2025, at 08:30, at the Permanent Representation of North Rhine-Westphalia to the European Union in Brussels. The guest speaker will be Odysseus D. Chatzidis, Chairman of Telekom’s European Works Council and member of Telekom’s Supervisory Board.

The event will focus on the current debate surrounding sustainability reporting in Europe. This topic has sparked controversy, with critics labelling it a bureaucratic burden and even blaming it for reduced innovation among European companies. Meanwhile, the European Omnibus initiative seeks to weaken existing corporate obligations regarding sustainability disclosures and human rights due diligence—even before these rules are fully implemented.

The discussion will explore key questions such as:

Is sustainability reporting truly just a bureaucratic exercise?

What benefits and opportunities does it offer for companies and workers?

How can it contribute to sustainable corporate governance and long-term business success?

Odysseus D. Chatzidis will share practical insights into how sustainability reporting can be used proactively by companies to strengthen their sustainability profile and strategic resilience. The debate will also consider the role of European Works Councils in shaping and leveraging sustainability reporting processes and the new opportunities this creates for employee representation.

The event offers space for discussion and exchange in an informal breakfast setting. Coffee and croissants will be served.
