Workers' Voice Breakfast

7 December 2021: 8th Workers‘ Voice Breakfast

What is needed to ensure that companies and employees can adapt to the changing way we work?

The way we work is changing. This is common knowledge. However, how we shape the process is controversial and differs among companies.

"Future of Work – Barcelona 2.0" is an European agreement between the management of Unilever and the Works Council. It´s an important example of how workers’ voice can have an impact as the European Works Council initiated the process. It wants to shape the future of work by pointing out the necessary steps of change. Sustainable HR and long-term oriented decisions shall ensure the employability of workers. The agreement is supported by a budget which is needed to qualify and train employees.

What is needed to ensure that companies and employees can adapt to the changing way we work? How does a cooperative manner of interaction between management, works council and trade unions supports the transformation? What has been implemented so far at Unilever?
